By 1917, the Fairfield Theater was located at 116 E. Broadway. It was known as the Victory Theater by the 1920’s, when its address was 120 E. Broadway. The name was changed by 1932 to the Rex Theater, which survived at least until 1939. We don’t yet know when it closed.
The Fairfield Directory of 1937 and The Fairfield Ledger, Oct. 2, 1939 (section H. p. 3 col. 5) says Louis E. Gaines owned the theater. For a photo of Louis E. Gaines, please see the photo posted by Barbara Beal on Facebook.
It would be great to have a picture of the Rex!
